Junior Induction Group

Coach: Jean Matthews

All new members under the age of 11 join the Induction Group.   The emphasis is on enjoyment and the opportunity to sample a wide range of athletic activities.  Athletes in this group have not specialised in specific disciplines such as sprints, middle distance running, throws or jumps. However there is a splendid League of Sports Hall Competitions, which provides an excellent introduction into competitive athletics.

Winter – (mid September – March) – indoor training in the lower sports hall of The Thomas Hardye School – Wednesday 6:30 to 7:30 pm

Summer (April – mid September) – outdoor training on the grass athletics track at The Thomas Hardye School – Wednesday 6:30 to 8:00 pm providing the weather is dry or there is only light rain.  Training moves indoors to the Lower Sports Hall in the event of heavy rain.

Junior Development Group

Coach: Jackie Cameron

All new members over the age of 11 and selected existing members under 11 join the Development Group.

The emphasis is still on enjoyment of athletics and the opportunity to sample a wide range of athletics activities.  Athletes take part in fitness training to improve their overall performance and prepare them for the next level of competition; which also helps them to decide  their athletic strengths for specialising.

Winter – (mid September – March) – indoor training in the lower sports hall of The Thomas Hardye School – Wednesday 7:30 to 8:30 pm.

Summer (April – mid September) – outdoor training on the grass athletics track at The Thomas Hardye School – Wednesday 6:30 to 8:00 pm providing the weather is dry or there is only light rain.  Training moves indoors to the Lower Sports Hall in the event of heavy rain.
